What will happen if you lose your Will and what can you do?
If you have lost your Will then we would recommend that you search everywhere to see if you can locate it. If you are unable to find your Will, you would have to make another one but the National Will Archive would support and be able to offer you solutions for keeping your Will safe in the future.
If you've lost your Will, then it is possible to locate it again. This is also appropriate for Wills saved on computers or online as you could quickly restore your Will and any other lost documents. If your Will has been damaged or you are unable to locate it, then you will need to make a new one.
If you have lost your Will then you should contact ourselves to find out what your next steps should be or you could contact anyone who could possibly either have a copy or may have moved / seen it around.
If you have lost your Will and think it will not be worth making another one, then you are wrong! Not having a Will means you will die in testate. That means all your belongings will go to the Crown Court who will then decide what to do with your items.
Losing a Will can be frustrating and sometimes it can feel like it's too late to make another. If you have lost your Will, we recommend that you either replace it or try to find it as soon as possible.
